Mission

To provide innovative online resources for physiotherapists and other health professionals that support them with their continued professional development and empower them to implement evidence based practice.

CPDspot is dedicated to providing resources for physiotherapists and other health professionals to support them with their continued professional development and to empower them to implement evidence based practice. CPDspot is designed to be a user-friendly, functional and free to use web-based service and we aim to make our resources innovative, interactive and easy to use. You can access all but one of our resources without the requirement to register or part with any money (our online portfolio requires you to register which is free).

At CPDspot you can use our resources to:

  • improve your skills for continued professional development and evidence based practice
  • keep up to date with clinically relevant research
  • further your professional development in specific clinical areas
  • plan and record your CPD in our online portfolio
  • complete a variety of other learning activities

 

What does CPDspot Aim to do?

1. provide assistance with continued professional development (CPD) by:
  • presenting information on continuing professional development
  • providing a variety of online learning resources suitable for CPD
  • offering access to an online CPD portfolio for health professionals
  • providing regular advice and tips in our CPDspot blog
2. support the implementation of evidence based practice (EBP) by:
  • presenting information on evidence based practice
  • providing a resource that highlights clinically relevant research
  • highlighting the contribution of the research to EBP
  • providing regular advice and tips in our CPDspot blog

 

What are our key development areas?

We are continually striving to develop CPDspot into a key resource for physiotherapists and other health practitioners to use for their CPD and EBP. Our main aim now is to ke the site more dynamic by the use of innovative tools and in 2008 we will be focusing on:

  • keeping our CPDspot blog regularly updated with useful information for the development of your CPD and EBP as well as developments at CPDspot itself.
  • developing more in-depth and interactive tutorials on CPD and EBP which will involve further explanation of the processes involved and tasks to enhance your effectiveness in these areas.
  • in partnership with Webducate we will be developing on-line courses with external speakers on topics that are relevant to both physiotherapists and other health professionals.

 

Is CPDspot for you?

Being written by a physiotherapist, the present focus of CPDspot is with the physiotherapy profession. However some of the current resources are also approriate for use by and will benefit other health care professionals. We are keen to develop our service to provide more similar resources that are specific to other areas of health care so if you are interested in becoming involved please contact us.

 

Meet the Team

Rachael Lowe

Rachael Lowe is an experienced musculoskeletal physiotherapist who has worked in primary, secondary and private care. With a special interest in e-learning she has set up CPDspot with the aim of providing online resources for to assist health professionals with their continued professional development and evidence based practice. She also helps Webducate with their health related projects.

Tony Lowe

Tony Lowe is an e-learning expert. He has been a lecturer at Sheffield University and an learning technologist at Leeds University before setting up Webducate, an e-learning company. He currently works as a consultant and developer for higher education and independent e-learning projects and is our techie at CPDspot.

Anna Lowe

Anna Lowe is physiotherapy lecturer who works in the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing at Sheffield Hallam University. As an experienced musculoskeletal physiotherapist she also works as an Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Practitioner at Rotherham General Hospital. She has a keen interest in e-learning and supporting new graduate physiotherapists with their continued professional development. Anna is our UK based consultant.

Eric Robertson

Eric Robertson is an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at the Medical College of Georgia, specializing in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy. One of Eric's areas of interest includes leveraging internet technology to improve evidence-based practice skills for clinicians. Eric also writes the NPA Think Tank blog. He is our US based consultant.
